There has been another bombing in monument city. Seems that the Anti Unification League has struck again and blown up the main bus depot down town on main street. The early reports are that there has been about 30 casualties and probably 100 injured so far. Military engineers are going through the collapsed building searching for survivors.
During the Chancellors weekly address to the people, he divulged that the opposition leader, John Macezie, was killed in his bed by an apparent assassin. It was unknown at this time what the motive was in killing him and who the lady was that found him dead in his bed, as his wife is currently away in Bermuda and not available for comment. The Chancellor also mentioned that one of the military bases had been attacked, but he wouldn't say if there was any casualties or not. I have it on good authority that the base was gassed and all personnel where killed. That would put the AUL death count at somewhere in the neighborhood of 1230. That is providing the base was fully maned.
In other news a couple thousand protesters descended on the down town core, in front of the temporary Parliament building. They where protesting the lack of food and goods in the city and the lack of any true action from the government. The demonstration was relatively calm and the Chancellor came out on the balcony to address the people. he promised to deal with the striking truckers to get the food supplies going. Most of the protesters left after hearing what the Chancellor had to say. But a few of the rowdier ones left in a group, looting shops and overturning a couple parked cars. The military police arrived in force dispersing the unruly people with tear gas and rubber bullets. about a dozen people where arrested and charged with various crimes.
On the lighter side of the news. The mayors office announced there will be a large benefit concert in the town stadium. He wouldn't say who was going to be preforming but that it would be announced in the next week or two. Now I am happy to report that the word on the street is, Ms Minmei will be headlining the show. If true it will mark the first time she has done a concert in almost 2 years. Who knows if she can still belt it out like she used to. It has the makings of being a great time and I will keep you all posted as we find out more at the Gazette.
That's it for this week.
