In a bold move to change the face of our city the governments new tough on crime stance is finally starting to work. The provisional government came out with the following statement, made by the press secretary. It seems that they managed to capture one of the ring leaders in the recent attack on the military base and the bombing of the down town police station . "After a prolonged questioning period with the prisoner, the accused decided to come clean and confess to the crimes he had committed. After signing the confession, where he admitted to bombings and masterminding the gas attack on the military base, he gave information to the whereabouts of his accomplices that where planing another attack. The military police quickly went into action, surrounding the residence of a conspirator. They quickly entered the building finding themselves in a fire fight with 7 desperate criminals. None of the military personnel where killed, though one was slightly wounded. All the terrorists where killed. The security team found bomb building equipment and a number of weapons."
"It has now been determined that the Zentradi are behind this terrorists movement. The man questioned was Zentradi and the men killed, who where planning the next attack where all Zentradi. So extreme measures are naturally necessary, to increase the safety of our city. We are going to institute a state wide registration for all Zentradi and descendent's of Zentradi. This is for everyones safety, including the innocent Zentradi who want to only help the government bring the evil perpetrators to justice. Everyone needs to be registered in the next 3 weeks, if they are not, they will face possible jail time if caught."
"Adequate security is of course promised during the registration proses. With 6 registration offices available, throughout the city, to choose from."
At the risk of editorializing, I must say it's about time our government starts acting tough instead of just saying they are tough. It's been almost a year since the current provisional government took over from the previous one and we haven't seen any real advances in safety. I hope this is a sign of things to come.
In other news, the girl that was found with the opposition leader Macezie, when he was killed, came forward and gave us an interview. As it turns out she is the secretary of the late Macezie. When asked what she was doing in his bed, she replied. "I was taking dictation and we became sleepy. So we both just laid down and went to sleep. When I woke up I discovered that I had some how become naked and my cloths where on the floor. I rolled over to ask about this and found a large amount of blood. I of course was very distraught and ran from the room screaming. Security came and confirmed that Macezie was indeed dead."
Now as to her story, I am sure the part about her running from a dead mans room was the truth. But if she wants us to believe that she was sleepy and lost her cloths.. We give this story the miss play of the week award!
Once again food riots are rampant in the city. Despite the Chancellors promise for fast action, very little has actually been done. The word on the street is that due to the military base being attacked there is a lack of personnel to drive and escort the food into the city. It seems the Zentradi are determined to cause as much trouble as they can. Now they are starving our people. Our women and children are suffering. I can only hope the registration helps. But part of me wonders if it will truly be enough.
Well that is all for this week. I will be back next week with more interesting news items.
