After the great battles of the first Robotech war.  there was little left of the military might that had been Robotech defense force.  To make matters worse the Robotech Expeditionary force was being established to go out into the universe and bring the war to those that had set the war machine on earth.

So with only two years to go before REF's departure it was decided that a new battle group be put together to help guard the home front.  Captain Nautica, then in charge of the fledgling Shadow squad was given the task of building his group into a fully functioning force.  This challenge he took on whole heartily.  At first it was very difficult to get the needed equipment  and man power required, with every region on earth already feeling the strains of putting together REF battle group.  But in the end he was able to pull together a carrier, the Pegasus, commanded by (Captain Flagg) and a number of fine pilots.  With this battle group he was able to stop the south American rebellion. 

After the early successes recruitment became easier and many new members helped to fill out the vacant positions. 

But with success came new challenges and with the formation of Anti Unification League (AUL) it became obvious that their navy component needed some serious fire power upgrades.  So the Force designed and built three Lori class Carriers.  The prototype, the Lori was put on deep space patrol.  The DarkFire and the Apoch where kept close to earth.  running patrols for AUL ships between earth and Mars.

As the conflicts between AUL and Shadow Force increased and became more violent in nature.  The Force looked to expand again.  This time adding a elite strike group of marines used mostly for security and boarding/landing missions.  this gave the force a more physical presence that was used in a number of missions.  Including the retaking of the Mars orbiting space platform

Currently the Shadow Force have managed to stop a civil war that was spearheaded by Senator Martin by retaking Monument city  This act has caused the previous government to collapse and the new government to be established by the Chancellor  It also reestablished  the Shadow Force as the previous government had declared them outlawed and had been hunting any and all of them down.

At present, the Shadows are working escort duty between earth and mars.
