Originally created to be a exploration platform.  It provided fuel, food and technical services to space ships exploring the solar system.  Also it was a base of operation for the rebuilding of Sarah base on mars and the Jordan teraforming project.

The base was setup up and built during the Shadow squads first mission into deep space with their new carrier the DarkFire.  Built mostly out of modular components it was erected fairly quickly (4 months).

After the base was mostly functional it was captured by Anti Unification League troops and all on-board where killed, (mostly technicians).  In a related incident, the Lady JoHannah, on patrol in the area, was also captured.  It took awhile before the Shadows where sent back to recapture the base, by then abandoned.  During the time of hostile take over of the base, none of the projects on Mars where active and it placed most of them behind by months if not years.

Currently the orbiting platform is being expanded and a larger military presence is being established there.  Shadow Force typically stations a carrier in and around that space.  But with the destruction of  the Apoch and the striping of  the garrison for the earth offensive the force is feeling the lack of resources..  One of the new Nargis class space ships is posted there doing space shakedown maneuvers.
